I forgot to document my short little jaunt while at Hot Water Beach up to Hahei and Cathedral Cove. I drove up the coast a little ways to a carpark outside of the little town of Hahei where I hopped out for a half hour walk down to some really nice beaches, the most famous being Cathedral Cove. You enter from another bay through a giant carved-out tunnel, trying to avoid the waves as they fill the void. The beach on the other side of the tunnel is very nice, with a giant pillar standing just offshore. The hike itself was pretty easy, but it was nice addition to the afternoon. On the way back to Hot Water Beach, I picked up a German hitchhiker and took him to the ferry landing at Cooks Beach. He was a strange man with parachute pants, but he was very thankful and it was nice to know I helped a fellow traveler out.
