Have not written in a while as we have been up to lots, and not near a computer long enough to write!

The last couple of weeks have been very enjoyable anyways.  It has been nice to catch up with family in both Adelaide and Melbourne, like staying at a home away from home...which has been especially nice, and a loverly break from sweaty dorm rooms in hostels!

On landing oz me and Zoe decided to surprise my auntie and uncle in Melbourne (mums side), so after a bus and a taxi we were sat on their drive waiting for them to arrive and surprise them we did!  We settled in and have been enjoying home cooked Shepard's pie, lasagna and lots of home baked treats!  We have been super spoiled really and i think i may have put some weight on :P  not that i wont loose it in the next four weeks as i am looking forward to a diet of $2 noodles to keep costs down....were not in south America any more and things are a little more expensive.

Our main aim for the first few days in OZ was to organize our Chinese visa, after completing the necessary forms we had a very disappointing trip to the embassy as they informed us of the current rules..... No Australian passport....no visa!  So we have decided to bite the bullet and post our passports to London... they should hopefully be arriving as i type.  We have sent them to a company that will arrange a courier to walk to the Chinese embassy in London with our passports, sort out the visas and then post them back to oz!  Fingers crossed ay, or this might be a horter trip than expected :P

Other than that we have perused a few shopping areas, i have picked up some super portable mini speakers for a new mp3 player i picked up so that i can share my amazing choice of music with the world.  I used my haggling powers first taught to me and developed by my dad, then practiced and perfected in south America.... so a $129 pair of speakers became mine at the happy price of $40 whoop whoop!

We went to Victoria market, a trendy outdoor market...everything you can think of including a hidden gem i am now wearing on my wrist... A Batman watch! ohhh yes :) And its not the new batman oh no, its the old skool batman from the comics...as you can see form the conveniently attached picture :)  Talking of batman, we seen the movie in Adelaide...i loved it, wouldn't mind seeing it again and super recommend it...Heath (rest in Peace) played the part perfectly, a super dark villain to stand up to the slightly fat Bale Batman.

My auntie and uncle also have regular visitors to their house...destructive as they are, but very cool... a load of cockatoos.  They destroyed their herb garden (or mainly the mint) so me and Zoe replaced this and hopefully they wont do it again....bad birds!

We have now also purchased bus tickets that will get us up to Cairns, allowing us to jump on and off as we please....so that our transport woes sorted ... loverly!

We met up with a friend we made in Peru (Paul) who also lives in Melbourne and checked out a bar called Chill on.... its an ice bar in the middle of Melbourne.... basically a big fridge, on the way in you receive a coat and gloves  and a warning not to lick the furniture.  The ice bar was made entirely from ice, including the glasses, furniture, bar and sculptures...very cool.....see what i did there cool...yeaa.

I enjoyed meeting up with my cousin Steve and his family (Claire, Michael and Amy)  after not seeing each other for 8 - 9 years!

My Auntie and Uncle took us to mornington, a town a little from there house just from the coast and we enjoyed a stroll on the beach and a super amazing view across the bay of Melbourne central on the horizon.

I also loved meeting my cousin Rob after such a long time and his girlfriend Ivana.

After sometime in Melbourne we took a 10 hour bus heading for Adelaide and caught up with my other auntie, uncle and cousin. (Dads side)  Also very nice to see these guys after such a long time...and meeting my cousin for the very first time...although i think we have met before but at the time i was still wetting the bed and can not remember our first encounter.  Again another home from home :)  We wandered the city of Adelaide, enjoyed a BBQ around my cousins house with her husband Daniel and there new baby Jasper :)  very cute!

We had an early start in Adelaide and headed to an warawong animal sanctuary, fed some kangaroos, i spotted a koala and we bumped into a bandicoot (nothing like the one in the computer game btw)  Very cold, but also a very good day :)

On the eve of the same day we were invited to a wine tasting... as my cousin Melanie is a very talented graphic designer, and has recently designed an image for a winery.... bottle labels n all, so we enjoyed a night of wine tasting at an art gallery for the launch of this tasty new wine. Good evening with good wines and lots of cheese :)

I also got to see some old photos of my family past, i have attached one of my great grandfather George William Thomas Burton, i thought this a very interesting...maybe slightly odd picture... notice the cane, random dog and super random typewriter looking thing in the background?!?!  This has also inspired me to produce a family tree when i get home, i have wanted to do this for a while and after seeing these old pics i think i will..... i also learned that my great grand mother is of Jewish descent....verrrrryyyyy interesting!

When wandering the streets of Adelaide we came across the church of Scientology...so decided to take some pictures of the nuts through the window (no offense but i think its nutty)  After taking a few picks a lady came out asking if we were from "anonymous"  after denial she asked again..... and after asking her some questions i discovered that anonymous is a group of hackers targeting the church of Scientology ...har diddy har :)

After a loverly few days in Adelaide we headed back to Melbourne, we enjoyed a full day with all of my family with home made quiche, and scotch eggs that me and Zoe helped to make :0

Rob took me and Zoe around the city, we ventured up to the tallest skyscraper, and an attraction called the edge.  You basically stand in a box which moves out over then edge of the building and the floor turns from white to clear... not for people afraid of heights, but fun for us :)  We also popped into the casino, me loosing $22, Zoe wining $8...not too bad , could always be worse.  I then managed to get my gaming fix for the month enjoying a night of Juiced on the Xbox and a few beers with me Cuz :)  Wow i feel really cool saying cuz.... "whut up cuz"  hmmmmm ... moving on

We did plan to visit Phillip island where you see penguins come out from the sea to their nests, and all the other Ozzy animals in a sanctuary, but due to thunderstorms and gale-force winds we went shopping instead...still a good day :)

After the old photo viewing session in Adelaide, we did the same in Melbourne, and i picked up some loverly photos of me and my family when we were young.  One of me attached :)

Today is our last full day in Melbourne as we have booked a bus to Sydney tomorrow night, and will be arriving the following day at 10:00 in the morning ...a loverly 14 hour bus.  Just wanted to say...i really enjoy the traveling between locations... i know the locations are the highlight, but the waiting for buses, sitting on the buses, hanging around at airports, and all that is still really enjoyable for me.. it gives you an excuse to do nothing, to read a book, to wander in your own thoughts....enjoy the in-flight/on-road movies that are picked for you, sleep without thinking you might be missing soemthing. ...Loverly :)

Ohhh and once again you can view all of our pictures....not just the selct few on this blog form here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/discozo/sets/
