BEFORE YOU READ ON....... me and Zoe are 100% safe and happy.... no cuts no bruises just some slightly shaken nerves.  I will explain:

So we jumped on our bus heading Copacobana -> La Paz, and this one time...the only time so far we decided to sit at the very front behind the driver (we wanted a good open view of the scenery).  I started reading the last fifteen pages of the book i recommended previously (daughter of the killing fields), the first 10 - 15 minuites of the journey was fine without a hitch and i looked forward to completing my book.

We started up a road reduced to one lane for both directions of traffic (the othe rhalf under contruction).... we were on the wrong side of the road (left side) heading up a hill on a loing blind right hand bend.  The driver proceded to beep his horn to warn any oncoming cars to slow down.... At this point i put my book down and took note of the road ahead, as you do when the driver is beeping the horn frantically!

Within less than 30 seconds a mini van hurtled around the corner (i knew he was going to fast) He hit his breaks and slid sideways towards the front of our bus... I braced, my heart stopped and i watched the van slide side on to the front of our bus, the windscreen shattering.  Upon the realisation of our safety my  heart began to pound as relief ran over me.  I looked to the bus driver and the ticket collector they were fine,  I looked around the bus...everyone was fine.   I looked to the mini van ....the driver and front passenger were fine.   I looked to the passenger in the back of the van....my heart stopped oncemore to see an old man with blood running down his face and shards of glass penetrating his hard worked skin.  I felt for him as the driver of the mini van reversed up and the crumpled van shot off into the distance. (no insurance prob)

The main casualty on our bus was the drivers mate... he was throwing up on the side of the road from shock.

Here is a picture of our view from the bus:

The front of the bus:

After the police had completed their report we were loaded onto another bus and headed up the mountain oncemore.

The next crazy part of the journey was having to get back off of the bus so it could cross a river on a barge...we followed it in a smaller boat  (our bus is the blue one ..our bags are on top.)

We Arrived in La Paz safe and sound ...ready for a beer!

AFTER reading this do not worry about the rest of our journey... or worry but know that worrying is about as affective as using a garlic trout and some copper wire to try and send an e/mail!
