After yesterday's tiring but amazing experience in the jungle, time for some relaxing activity. Last day in TALAG community and we woke up really early, at 6.30am (ouch), in order to have a quick breakfast and head for an animal rescue centre in the river Napo. A 1.5-hour truck drive took us to the river, where we boarded in to a motorized canoe boat that would take us to the centre.

The canoe ride was indeed an interesting experience and after half-an-hour we arrived at the rescue centre in the middle of the jungle. A Swiss 20-year old girl that worked as a volunteer was our guide around the centre. We saw parrots that live their lives with one and single pair (what???) and if this pair dies they get depressed and lose their feathers, monkeys that jump from tree to tree and at times may even visit your shoulder for a quick inspection of your bag (we are not kidding, even if it didn't happen to us), crocodiles, turtles, some Ecuadorian pigs and a few wild cats that looked like small leopards and small jaguars.

Our way back to the camp found us all tired and sleeping in the trucks. Our last evening in the camp was expected to be really interesting, because some kids from the local school would come to give a short performance of traditional ceremonies and songs as a fair-well for all of us. It was truly such a great experience to see those 5-8 year-old children performing just for us traditional dances. Besides, their last act was a local ceremony during which men holding small drums are asking women for a dance to which some of us were asked to participate. With no hesitation, Nick, Ryan, Sara and Ellie proved to be avid dancers!!!

Anyway, we then had our last dinner along with our beloved tropical insects and it's high time we went to our mosquito-nets!
Nighty nighty everybody! Tomorrow we are going back to civilization (electricity, cell-phone reception, TV -WORLD CUP 2010-, chargers for phones/netbooks).

Catch up with you later!
