Day 1
Jericoacoara is one of the most amazing places I have ever been, it is an incredible place. We  left fortaleza at 5 by bus. Four hours later we got off this lovely air conditioned bus with comfy seats in the middle of the dark in the middle of nowhere and boarded what can only be described as a converted cattle lorry. We threw our bags up on top of the renovated cattle truck (and prayed they would be there when we arrived) and took off to Jericoacara in the dark. For one hour we were bounced around the truck wondering what the hell we were letting ourselves in for and why we were coming here......

Finally after one hour of driving through sand dunes and on bumpy beaches, these lights appeared in the distance. We were arriving in Jericocoara, we drove in through the sand filled streets and and were met at the bus by the owner of the hostel, Esteban, who brought us to his lovely hostel on the main square, a stones throw from the beach. We dropped the bags in the hostel and went exploring, it was 11 pm and the place was alive, with the bars hopping and stalls with cocktail makers lining both sides of the narrow street on the way down to the beach. Needless to say plenty of the cocktails were sampled and we attempted to play some pool with the locals and wandered back up to the hostel and 4:30 am!!

Day 2
Following the previous nights exploring of Jericoacoara, we struggled out of bed the following morning, grabbed breakfast and went to explore Jericoacara by daylight. We went through the sand filled streets of the village and then made our way down to the beach, which was incredible. The water was a calm as a lake and shallow and warm and the beach and scenery was stunning. We chilled out there for a while and then got some lunch from the supermarket and relaxed in the hostel. We then deciede to go watch the sunset on top of a massive sand dune beside the beach. Now were were not the only ones with this idea as there were about 500 others doing the same thing (apparently its a bit of a tradition this neck of the woods!!). The sand dune was massive and faced out onto the sea. The sunset down on the Atlantic ocean and it was stunning to say the very least. When the sun went down everyone clapped like as if they were at a concert, too much sun does strange things to some people!!!!

That night we went and grabbed dinner and booked a buggy ride into the lagoons with Irvine the local tourist guy, it was at 9 the next morning so we didnt go as mad as the previos night, we watched the copa america semi final and went down and had a couple of cocktails and caled it a night!

Day 3
We got up early this morning and grabbed breakfast and hopped into the buggy and away off we went with our driver and a couple from Fortaleza, Fernando and Tayna. Fernando was a teacher and loved getting a chance to use his English and drink beer so we hit it off straight away!! First off, we visited a lagoon called the blue lagoon, its a small lake in the middle of the sand dunes, white sand, blue clear water, we swam around there for a while and then made our way to a place called Paradise lake, which was a massive lake, where you could sit in the lake and have food, and drinks and swim around. It was a truly incredible setting, one which I would be unable to describe properly, the pictures show it all. Following on from that we visited another lake where we were taken out by boat out onto this island where we there was a restaurant/pousada, we stayed there for an hour, drinking beer and chatting and catching the sun. From there we made our way to a seafood restaurant on the beach, had the most amazing fish and then made our way back to Jericoacoara, tired after a stressful day!! Chilled out that evening, watched another sunset from on top of the dune and walked around the village, had a few beers and chilled out.

Day 4
Had breakfast and made plans to head north...to Sao luis, could get a bus out of Jericoacoara so got one back to Fortaleza..First we got a jeep ride out of the dunes to the bus, in the day time the journey was incredible through the sand dunes and the lagoons....sad to leave this incredible place but the trek to the amazon starts now!!!
