Where I stayed
Today's outing is to the JFK museum, a two train and shuttle bus ride to the point on the bay adjacent to Massachusetts University. The "tour" starts with a video presentation which covers JFKs background and election. Overall the museum is small but we spent nearly 5hours wandering the Exhibits and watching videos. Knowing little of JFK and that part of American history I was absorbed. The Cuban crisis was particularly fascinating with original video of the time. They say that JFK was the first to use the TV media and he had a million memorable quotes and speeches.
Lots of Jacqueline Kennedy's observations and role and plenty on the Kennedy brothers. An abundance of original documents, photos and memorabilia, including notes, doodles and letters. Material on Martin Luther King as well. All in all a very enjoyable and educational experience
Back in the burbs Halloween was in full swing,as we left the station the nearby streets were full of kids and adults in costume out trick-or-treating. I called in to the local cafe and a dozen or more treaters invaded the shop which handed over handfuls of sweets to young and old alike. Felt like donning a costume to get my share. For not the first time on this trip someone finds my accent difficult. Imagine my disbelief and surprise.
Shirley had set up on the stoop, which is the custom and was bombarded with a stream of treaters. No treats left for me tonight.
Back to CNNnNNNNN and a mix of the "superstorm" and the elections. Mostly the former. Although Michael Moore is worth the time.
Two days to New York. I hope it's ok.
