Where I stayed
Home, OTtawa, Ontario
What I did
International Airports
Shawn and I head off to the airport after saying goodbye to Bill and Heather, they will spend the day in Athens then fly to Santorini the next day, Shawn and I will head home, he via Newark and his sister and I via Munich and Montreal.
I have a couple of hours in the Athens airport, Shawn heads off I board my flight, it makes a straight line up the cost of the Adriatic sea I look down and see great switch back roads in the mountains of Northern Greece, Croatia and start thinking about the next trip. I have enough time in Munich to grab a pretzel and get on my plane to Montreal, then a short hop home.
The trip is over, we went looking for adventure and we found it, the five days on the bikes were fabulous, visiting small towns, riding winding roads, meeting great people who were always willing to go out of their way to help us and try and understand what we were saying or asking. Smiling friendly gendarmes and police officers who once they realized we were just touring around were happy to send us on our way. Everywhere in Turkey on the bikes we felt welcome and were always being offered glasses of tea and cups of Turkish coffee. The smaller the hotel or establishment the better we seemed to be treated.
This should be the beginning of several more trips like this, I like travelling by motorcycle as it puts you more in touch than if you were in a car.
Thanks to my travelling companions for a wonderful adventure, it's what we went looking for and it’s what we found.
