Winter, Rini, Nurel, Winter, Elijah, Rance, Richo, Judi, Derrick, Randy, myself and a few other Acehnese guys all went to the Peter Pan concert. Peter Pan is a very popular band here in Southeast Asia and I'm huge fan as well. Yes, I know, Wyndi a huge fan of Peter Pan! I really love them, not for their talent, but because they are from Southeast Asia. I don't know the meaning of most of their lyrics, but I sing at the top of my lungs with all my heart anyway. So the concert was a blast! The most interesting part was not the music, although I loved it, but it was the fact that the entire event was segregated. Women on one side and men on the other...no mingling! Sheriat Law. I actually enjoyed this way more than I thought I would. At first I was kinda bummed because everyone wasn't going to be able to enjoy the concert together, but once I got there I really enjoyed it. It was nice not to have to worry about being groped during the concert. Winter and I totally rocked out and eventually made our way to the front towards the stage. Another interesting Acehism was the fire hose. The crowd began to shout, "Water, Water!", and some guy starting hosing the crowd down. It was crazy. What we in the states use for crowd control, they use to crowd cooling. I was taller than all the other girls and had great view no matter where I stood. Everyone was so quiet too. As Winter and I start rockin' and yellin' everyone just looked as us like we were nuts. Thankfully, we are! But eventually others joined in on the madness. Fortunately for us, we are white or "bule" is what we are called, and can get away with being a bit crazy.

I'm living in Kampung Mulia (Village of Glory) in a ruko (apartment like). It is really nice. I even have a shower! This is the village I spent most of my time at last summer and I am able to build more on the relationships that I had already established. I live with Winter Wall, 21 from Denver, Colorado and Lynnette from Australia. Jami is living with an older couple in town. The guys, Evan, Elijah, Justin and Rance live in Kampung Mulia as well in a green house that is very close to our apartment. They now have a new addition to their team. His name is Dave and he flew in on Thursday.
