June 6 – Today we are in Honfleur, France. Many of the guests went on tours of Normandy.  It just so happens that today, June 6, is the 67th anniversary of the D-Day landing.  We were in Normandy a couple of years ago so decided to explore Honfleur.  Honfleur is especially known for its old, beautiful picturesque port, characterized by its houses with slate-covered frontages, painted many times by artists, including in particular Gustave Courbet, Eugene Boudin, Claude Monet and Johan Jongkind.  The Sainte-Catherine Church, which has a bell-tower separate from the principal building, is the largest church made out of wood in France.

Well, today, was very cool – 62 degrees and a little rainy.  We took the shuttle bus at 10:00 into Honfleur.  It was a rainy day but we still walked around and looked at the gorgeous architecture.  There were many wood timbered buildings with slate roofs.  Calvados – apple brandy – is very popular here along with mussels.  No shortage of cafes here, either!  We loved this city.  It is so quaint looking.  I took a lot of photos of the different building. We walked around some, had a great lunch at a café and then walked around some more.  When we finished our lunch, the rain had stopped and the sun was trying to come out.  It did briefly but not for long.

Well, we are leaving the ship in the morning.  We will be picked up in Southampton.  On our way to London, we will stop at Stonehenge and tour Salisbury.  We will spend two nights in London before flying back to Houston on Thursday
