Getting to Khajuraho took 30 hours of straight traveling! We left Mandu on a bus to Indore where we caught a train to Bhopal. In Bhopal we had 4 hours to kill before catching a night train to Satna. Here we met a few other tourists and caught a bus to Khajuraho. Khajuraho is a place most famous for it's sexually explicit temples. Once we settled ourselves into a great hotel recommended by our new Indian 'friend' we met on the bus we had a look around at the most southern temples. Here we managed to see only a few average temples before getting caught in a monsoon downpour. The next day we had a look at the main temples which were exceedingly impressive. These temples had explicit carvings showing various Khama Sutra positions. We later found out that these carvings were put into these temples to encourage marriage and children. That night we went to the local Hindu temple and were lucky enough to be able to partake in a daily Hindu ceremony. After which we had dinner with our 'friend' 'Baba' and few drinks. This turned out be a very interesting experience as Baba shamefully admitted that his real name was Raj and he is a con man. Thus we had a very interesting conversion of the many ways Indians can scam tourists. Luckily we were not conned into his scams as we were both very weary of his over-friendliness from the very start. The next day we had a good sleep in before leaving for Varanasi.
