On route to the this island we met a Swedish couple, Eric and Hadba. Two very cool cats to chill with for the next few days. We all found a real laxed out bungalow at Ao Si Thanu. This was about a 45 min scooter ride from Hat Rin, the infamous party beach.
We hired scooters straight away and headed to Hat Rin after dinner and got into the goodness of buckets. The next day was a very slow day due to the not so goodness of the previous evenings buckets. We all just laxed out at the bungalows with Jay and Boz, the lads running the place. Real cool cats also so would recommend the place to anyjuan!!! After a long day doing sweet F A, Nae had the great call of getting obviously well deserved Thai massages. Good thinking so we all headed off to get rubbed, pushed, pulled, tweaked and cracked. It really wasn't as painful as we had been told and did us all some good.
The woman who owned the business got along with us all pretty well so we all went with her to dinner. We arranged to meet her again the next night for dinner at a all you can eat Thai hot plate buffet and went on our way to finish/invest in more ingredients to produce more buckets. The next day was all about excitement. Nae totally loved driving the scooter to the point of not seeing road signs or traffic lights, to be fair there was only one set of lights on the island but Nae managed to run it pretty well to the great delight of the local police. $400 bhat fine. But the system over here is fantastic, they take your license, give you bodgy directions to the police station so after about 30 mins of searching for a place that was no more than 5 mins from the lights you find it. After about 30 mins of mucking around you pay the fine, get a receipt then head back to the scene of the crime, careful not to run the lights, show your receipt, get ya license back in ya hot little mitts and away you go, faster even as your pockets are now lighter!!!!! After that adventure it was time to eat. Lucky we did, as just as we finished our meal a monsoon hit. We have never seen rain like it, only lasted for about an hour or so but the amount of water that was dropped was amazing. This ended our adventures we thought and headed home, but the rain started again, not quite as heavy but rain in the face at 50 - 60 km/hr isn't something to be desired. What a day, the rest was spent doing as little as possible. What a place.
