Where I stayed
We caught our 11.15am flight to New York City this morning. We allowed extra time for Monday morning traffic and security clearance, however both were not an issue so we had 2 hours to kill at the airport. The kids made friends with some American children and enjoyed playing with their mobile drawing board. The 3 ½ flight went well and we were all excited to see the high rises of New York City as we descended.
After a fast taxi ride, we arrived at our Hotel around 5.30pm. Our room was not ready due to a labour strike so it was lucky that we could hang out in Lee-Ann's parent’s room until it was ready.
The kids did not know anything about Lee-Ann’s parents being in New York, so they got a huge surprise when Ann and Tony answered the door. You could see Max’s mind ticking over, thinking what are Nanny and Poppy doing here? The kids were really happy and excited to see them as were we.
We chilled out for an hour before our room was ready. Our one bedroom apartment has a terrace which is really nice with great views down Lexington Avenue. Ann and Tony came to check out our room before we headed out to dinner. It was quite chilly (about one degree celsius) and everyone is hoping for snow. We were all excited to be back in one of our favourite cities.
We had dinner in an Italian restaurant called Fresco, which was not far away from the Hotel. The food was exceptional and the wine was flowing. It was great fun recounting some of our best memories from our trip to Ann and Tony. It was also great to hear about all the news back home. We were one of the last to leave the restaurant. The kids did well with the late night as they were still running on Denver time (two hours earlier).
We hung out for a while in Ann and Tony’s room before retiring for the night in our own room.
