We would love to have had more time in Coeur d' Alene, but we'll come back and visit.
We stopped about 45 minutes out of town in Wallace, ID. This is the 'Silver Capitol' of the world. It is a typical mining town from the old west. We even toured an old mine that is no longer operating. It was a great experience for the boys and us to hear from a retired miner about the work they did. When you hear all that they went through, it's hard to believe anyone would do it. It had to be one of the most back-breaking, life-threatening jobs. Of course, that's before the modern day equipment they now have.(now it's just a
life-threatening job)
We got into Missoula, Montana around 6pm, with the time change. We had plans to go to some friends for dinner. This was actually a doctor we knew in NC. She saw Collin when he had Encephalitis. Leslie and her husband, Dane and 2 kids moved out here 2 years ago when Dane started teaching at the university. We went to their house for dinner and had a great time. This week actually has the 3 longest days of the year. We were sitting in their living room talking and it was still light out. We couldn't believe it when we realized it was almost 10pm.
Montana is beautiful and Missoula is a rapidly growing town. We're looking forward to seeing more of it.
