We've really enjoyed our time in Petaluma. The KOA here is definitely in our top 3 parks so far. So, this morning the boys got ready quickly so they could play with Austin and Alena until we left. We finally got on the road about 1pm.

We drove to the town of Occidental, CA to have lunch. Along the way, we came across a small town, Sebastopol, where they were having a farmers market. We walked around for a while before we got back on the road to Occidental. My cousin's husband, Jim, told us to stop in Occidental for authentic Italian food. It's close to the Russian River where there is supposed to be some great Pinot Noir wines. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to taste any this time. The town was and is owned by two Italian families.(I think there was Godfather involved) One family owns one side of the street and the other family owns the other side..

The boys and I took Kelly to the Union Hotel for Mother's Day. It was family-style and they gave us a ton of food. After lunch we headed back to the RV, hitched up the car and started north toward the redwoods. My back was acting up, so after driving a couple of hours, I turned the wheel over to Kelly. She did a great job, especially given the terrain. This was one of the most scenic drives we've had so far. It looked very much like the Smoky Mountains in North Carolina.(except with massive Redwood trees).

This was the first day we drove more than a couple of hours. There were no Walmarts in sight for a short overnight stay, so we pulled off an exit and found a safe place to park near a hotel. We managed to squeeze a little fun in along the way. Tomorrow morning we'll just have a one hour drive to Redwood National Park! -Chris
