We left Monterey, Ca this morning and headed north for the garlic capitol of the world....Gilroy, CA. We expected to smell garlic in the air, but to no avail. We saw many garlic fields with green onion looking stems sticking out of the ground. July and September we're told are the big harvest months around here.

As we arrived in town, we spotted a Walmart with a large parking lot on the side to park for the day while we ventured around town. We started with a stop at Goldsmith Seeds. This is one of the largest seed developers in the world for flowers. Keegan, Collin, and I strolled through some of their outdoor flower gardens learning the names of the new varieties and the boys playing in the goldfish pond, while Chris worked out. Keegan's favorite part was photographing the flowers in the gardens and Collin loved trying to touch the goldfish and get wet.

After Chris picked us back up, we headed over to a county park, Chitactac-Adams Heritage Park that was inhabited by indians who left petroglyphs many years ago. We went on the self-guided walking tour for 30 minutes and the boys also climbed the rocks like the indians did.

Next, our day wouldn't have been complete without a trip to Garlic World to try and experience the reputation of Gilroy. We taste tested some garlic pickles, pickled garlic, and believe it or not, vanilla-garlic ice cream. When you first taste the ice cream you taste a hint of garlic and then it gets better, but leaves a distinct garlic taste in your mouth long after.

It was such a beautiful day, we decided to end our day with a bike ride at Christmas Park and made a stop by a local baseball game to watch for a bit. Keegan and Collin are becoming avid baseball fans and having so much fun throwing and catching with Chris while we've been in CA.

We returned back to our RV and Riley (our dog) at dusk and the boys rode their scooter and wave board in our "private" parking lot at Walmart until dark. Chris ran in Walmart for a few things and bought the boys one of their favorite movies, Fly Away Home, a story about geese. So, the guys are in the bedroom watching the movie together all snuggled up. We overnighted in the parking lot for a "free" night with some fellow campers and a couple big rigs. We're moving on to San Jose, CA tomorrow for the day. -Kelly
