We've been waiting to go for a whale watch, the humpback whales are in the Monterey Peninsula area and it's on barter! We all left for a boat ride with Sanctuary Cruises out of Moss Landing at 10:00 am. We dressed in layers for the 4 hour tour with lots of cloud cover and some mist in the air.

Just about 20 minutes after we left the harbor, we saw our first two humpback whales searching for food. The big clue where to find them is to look for the flocks of birds also hunting for fish to eat. We learned they come to the Monterey area to feed in spring and summer and then winter in Central America and Mexico while they're also mating. It's such a treat just to watch them come up for air, blow their spouts, and gracefully plunge back under water.

Thankfully none of us got sea sick, like some of the other passengers. We wore the electronic bracelets that send jolts down your hand every 4 seconds to prevent sea sickness. Not sure how they work, but we'd highly recommend them.

We were blessed to see 6 whales very close to our 30+ passenger boat and many sea lions,  otters, and seals on our ride. After the tour, we hit the locals favorite, "Phil's Seafood Restaurant", in the Moss Landing Wharf area for some fresh halibut tacos.

After lunch, we headed to Monterey to the "Dennis the Menace Playground" so Keegan and Collin could run around and play. This park was on our list of the top things to do with kids in the Monterey area. After the park, we headed back to the RV so Chris could watch Field of Dreams with the boys.

We head to San Jose tomorrow after we stop in Gilroy (the garlic capitol of the world).

Garlic Capitol!
Hey Guys,

Sounds like whale watching was lots of fun. Will have to try the electronic bracelet for sea sickness... I get deathly ill without the patch!

Let me know about the garlic capital... sounds stinky!
