We're trying to see as many factory tours on our travels across America and today is a sweet one! Grammy, the boys, and I met up with about 40 other school kids at Cerreta's Candy Co. for a factory tour to see how they make their candy.(see pics)
It's been a family business now for four generations and they make caramels, chocolates, taffy, etc. It was interesting to see the wall with all the other companies involved in making them successful from the corn growers for corn syrup, nut growers, packaging and paper companies, dairy farmers for milk and butter, to the company in CA who makes their special chocolate recipe and ships it to them in 10 pound bars. Making "chocolate pizza" was the highlight of our trip to Cerreta's! (see pics)
After the tour, we drove to downtown Phoenix to check it out. We followed the signs to "downtown" and when we arrived we weren't sure if it was Phoenix or a suburb. We were surprised to see that Phoenix didn't have a large downtown area and few restaurants. The local folks admitted there's not much to their downtown. We finally found a deli to have lunch and it was out of this world! (Best part of Phoenix yet)
Chris arrived early from FL around 2:00pm and then we headed back to the RV resort. He couldn't wait for us all to go see RV with Robin Williams and so we did with Grammy too! We loved it and laughed alot, since we could really relate!
