Today we have no choice but to leave for Arizona. The boys and I awoke early to get the RV ready to hit the road. We met our friends from Alaska for breakfast at 9:00am and said our last goodbyes as they headed for the airport to pick up their dad.

It's a beautiful sunny, warm, dry day as we pull out of Albuquerque. It will take us about 6 hours to get to Thousand Trails, southwest of Flagstaff, AZ. We stopped for diesel (ouch) on the way and the boys watched their new educational snake video and played Game Boy to make the time go by faster.

We stopped by the Arizona Welcome Center for a photo and to pickup brochures on all there is to do in this beautiful state. As we crossed the state line on I-40 west, everything seemed more interesting to the eye. I drive the kids crazy yelling for them to look at this and that, mostly neat rock and mountain formations. The most amazing thing I've noticed is that almost every river you see is completely dry...not a drop of water. Our skin is sooooooooo dry too!

Upon arriving at Verde Valley, the boys helped me get the RV hooked up and were thrilled to take their bikes off the rack. This campground is more like a state park and a safe place to ride. There's desert scape everywhere with cactus, dried up looking trees, beautiful rocky mountains in the distance, plus a river that has real water in it. It's the Verde River.

Folks are always friendly at the RV parks. We met a few neighbors and a family with kids on spring break from California. Tomorrow we will be driving south to Phoenix to pick Chris up at the airport. We are looking forward to having him back!
