It doesn't feel much like Florida as we awoke to chilly temperatures. We're off bright and early to check into Big Oak RV Park after spending the night as free guests in the Walmart parking lot. Did you know that Walmarts welcome campers to stay in their parking lots free...smart marketing, huh? It's called boondocking.
I met a lady this morning while doing laundry who was 83 and still camping with her husband of 63 years. She, like so many, have encouraged us to travel while we're still young, have our health, and kids to share the experience.
This is Chris' old stomping ground since he worked for Rep. Lee Constantine and with Tom Gallagher when he ran for Governor the last time...so he was our tour guide
Our next stop was to the old Capitol building for a few minutes before grabbing a bite to eat at Andrew's Grill. During our lunch outside, Keegan and Collin got out their draw pads and starting sketching. Keegan did a terrific pencil drawing of the Capitol with the city, state, and US flags and Collin drew the restaurant's sign.
After lunch, the boys and I headed to the planetarium. We saw the "Paper Rocket" movie that was a terrific trip through the 9 planets..a great follow up to our fieldtrip to Kennedy Space Center last week. Chris picked us up and off we went to visit some local friends after a brief stop to walk around the outside of the Governor's Mansion!
Our evening ended with a stop at The Nabors' Family home and dinner with Will, Robin, and Gabby Spillius (friends who moved from W. Palm Beach).(see picture)
Spent the night at Big Oak RV Park in Tallahassee, FL.
PS-Chilly tonight down to 36 degrees. Don't worry we have gas and electric heat!
