We are starting to feel a bit like experts when it comes to hopping the train to NYC! Today found us exiting at Grand Central and catching the subway downtown. We exited at the Brooklyn Bridge station. It drops you off right at the walkway for the bridge, very convenient! High up on my bucket list was a walk across this historic bridge and it seemed a bit surreal to be doing so!
After the walk we headed into the financial district and spent some time at Ground Zero. From there it was off for a free ride on the Staten Island Ferry. The views of downtown from the ferry really can't be beat. We also got some pretty stellar views of Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty!
Done with downtown we hopped on the subway and headed back to the village. We were hoping to find the High Line. It's a park that has been created out an old elevated rail line. We exited the subway, map in hand and were trying to figure out exactly where to go. With our 'tourist' beacons flashing a local took us under his wing and walked us the 6 blocks or so to the start of the park....very much appreciated!
We walked the High Line and because it was starting to get dark we decided to head over to Times Square to check it out at night! After all we were only about 25 blocks, or so, away!
