Remember that commuter train I mentioned in the previous entry? Well, it runs once an hour on the weekends and costs $9, one way. Parking is only $5, for all day! Total travel time from the Croton-Harmon station to Grand Central was just under 40 minutes.
On our arrival we gawked like tourists; because, after all, that is what we are! Most of the time I would make the argument that we are temporary residents or even visitors but in this case, we are tourists! We had a handy Frommers guide that I had picked up off the sale rack months ago in Erie, Pennsylvania. Exiting Grand Central Station, we had a vague 'plan' that quickly fell apart. We did what we had always wanted to do - walked around. In fact, my handy pedometer app showed that we logged just over 10 miles. We had a ball. But were very happy to grab a seat on the train and let someone else do the driving! And, having the final drive from the station to home be less than 5 minutes was more convenient than I could ever put into words!
