We spent a very relaxing and enjoyable week in Chewelah 'camped' out in my parents side yard.  This gave us time to not only visit with my folks but to also wash the 'house'.  It hadn't been cleaned since before we headed north and it took several days to remove all of the Alaska & Canadian dirt from it.  Now, if I could just get it all out of the inside!   It never ceases to amaze me the places that dirt & dust can hide in under 400 square feet!

The week in Chewelah also gave Ken the opportunity to work on his golf game.  He usually golfs 2-3 times a week and had gone all 101 days of our 'Sair-a-van' without golfing!!  He was a bit rusty to begin with but after several days on his home course - along with the purchase of new clubs & a new golf bag - he seems to be back in the swing of things!!

From Chewelah we headed into Idaho and spent Labor Day weekend at Hells Gate State Park in Lewiston, Idaho.  It was a beautiful campground which was booked solid for the weekend.  I have such fond memories of camping as a kid that it always warms my heart to see families out enjoying each others company & making memories!  We managed to take in some fo the Nez Perce Indian sites along with a few of the Lewis & Clark Idaho highlights while we were here.  Ken also managed to squeeze in a round of golf at a course he is already trying to figure out how to get back to!!

After the holiday weekend we headed down Highway 95 to Grangeville, Idaho.  Yet another beautiful part of Idaho and a small town - population 3200 - with alot of life to it!!  We took a jet boat trip into Hells Canyon from here and also managed to take in a few more Nez Perce sites.  I think I can safely speak for both of us that the jet boat trip is a recent highlight of our full timing travels and something we can't wait to do again - in the Spring when the hills are green and the river is running higher!

From Grangeville we took a fairly short and scenic drive down to McCall, Idaho.  We have spent the last couple of days at Pondersa State Park which is located close to the shores of Payette Lake.  This is another beautiful part of a state we are quickly becoming enamored of.   We are actually talking about coming back here at some point down the road and spending a month here....something we have NEVER contemplated before.

Of course, our possible return won't be for a couple of years.  We are fairly commited to the idea of exploring the New England states along with the Canadian Maritimes during the next couple of springs/summers & falls!!!
