Crater Lake National Park is located a short 35 miles from our campground and was our first destination today.  Of course, we had to make an obligatory stop at the Fort Klamath General Store on the way  for some fresh made cinnamon sugar donuts - this is a group of retired cops traveling together after all!!  Yes, occasionally the stereotype is correct!

We arrived at Crater Lake - which is only partially open due to snow.  After taking in the movie along with some shopping at the visitor center we headed out to the Rim Drive overlook.  This is by far one of the most beautiful bodies of water we have ever seen and we were excited to share it with our friends.  The view was still stunning but the grey sky took a little away from the unique color of this lake on it's 'normal' blue skied sunshiny day.  It was really just an excuse to make a return trip during the summer months!

After a quick picnic lunch along with a stop at an estate sale we headed back to Collier Memorial State Park.  This park contains a museum of sorts dedicated to the equipment used in the logging industry from days gone by.  It is really an impressive collection of old, older and not so old 'stuff' and quite a bit of fun wander around in.

Once done with our exploration of the museum we made the short walk back to camp for yet another dinner and campfire.  We head out north in the morning for our next adventure.  Updates to follow so stay tuned!
