Where I stayed

I have to confess to a certain amount of guilt in doing this entry.  We spent the majority of our 'snowbird' season re-visiting areas that are very familiar to us and I didn't really fell like I had much to share with you.  But  I realize that I should have been doing updates to this site - I can't tell you how many comments we have received about our lack of entries!  And, if memory serves me correctly, it seems we have had this conversation before.  So, let me apologize for not being better at keeping up to date on our travels and please don't hesitate to chastise me if I fall behind again!

So, here's a quick run down of what we've been up to since last we chatted. In early March Ken took the truck and headed to Las Vegas for a 'boys' week at the NASCAR race. I stayed with the 'house' in Palm Springs which gave me the opportunity to spend some time with my folks.  We spent the remainder of the month of March in Arizona visiting with family & friends along with taking in several Cactus League Spring Training games!  Early April found us in the LA area and we had the kids & grands down for a weeks visit over their spring break.  We spent time on the beach in Santa Monica, took in the sights in & around Hollywood and spent a couple of days at Universal Studios.  We have been back in the Bay Area since the end of April and have managed to get in a lot of visiting in between our annual 'body maintenance' appointments!   And I flew up to Spokane at the end of the month along with both of my sisters to walk in the annual Bloomsday 12k walk with them & our mom.

The good news is that we head "North to Alaska" in a few days and I will have a wealth of new experiences to share with you!  This will be a return trip for us - our maiden journey as full-timers was to Alaska in 2005.  We are traveling with four other couples this time and are looking forward to visiting areas we missed last time as well as returning to areas we fell in love with on our last trip!

Our adventure starts on the 12th - with all of us meeting up in Corning, CA at the Rolling Hills Casino. We will take a week traveling north to the Canadian border and will return to the lower 48 on August 13. We are getting an early start in an effort to try to get a jump on all the large caravans.  We've made reservations at the more popular stops along the way but are also planning on 'winging it' quite a bit!  We are prepared for all types of weather but we are really hoping we don't have to pull out our snow gear!!  It should be a great three months and I promise to keep you posted on all of our adventures and discoveries. Honest!!
