Where I stayed
Bayou Segnette State Park

I think I should start with a little background on how this adventure we've been on started.  Last year Ken & I spent a couple of days here at Bayou Segnette State Park.  This park is conveniently located to New Orleans - you can either drive into town and hunt for parking or drive to Algiers and take the free ferry over. The ferry drops you off at the foot of Canal Street which is easy walking distance to the French Quarter, the Warehouse District and the various trolley lines.  One other huge plus about this campground is that it is located right next to a fresh fish/seafood market and the shrimp don't get much tastier or cheaper!

Well, when we were here last year we became smitten with the park and New Orleans.  We also learned that there is an annual French Quarter Festival which involves food and music.  This festival takes place in early April.  We decided to make a return visit this year for the Festival and invited our 'retired LPD RV'ing friends' to join us.  Of course we had to start this adventure off with some baseball and the drive east needed to include several stops and adventures.

Our little group of eight includes five people who have never been here before.  What fun we had planning things to do in and around the area.  We did spend our first 2 days here at the French Quarter Festival - learning a valuable lesson after day one- take chairs!!  We would do the festival again in a heartbeat which is the most positive thing I can say about it.

I am doing this entry at the end of our 8 day visit and rather than go on and on about all we did and all we saw I think I'll just post a bunch of pictures and let you all follow along on an amazing adventure!
