Where I stayed
By the River RV resort, Kerrville, Texas PA park
This is a beautiful part of Texas and an area we can imagine spending more time in at some point in the future. Today was spent taking a short scenic drive from our campground in Kerrville to Johnson City. There are several sites in and around this city that chronicle the life of President Lyndon B. Johnson. They include the home he was born in, the home he was raised in and the Texas White House.
Ken and I had visited here back in 2001. Ladybird Johnson was still alive at that time and the Texas White House wasn't open for tours because she still spent some time there. You also had to tour the grounds in a National Park bus and weren't allowed to get off and wander around. All of that has changed now. The driving tour is done in your own vehicle and guided tours are given of the Johnson home. It is all very fascinating and well done. Definately worth a visit or a re-visit if you should find yourself in this neck of the woods.
