So, here it is April 19th and I finally have time to sit down in front of the computer and do some work on this blog!  To use one of Ken's dads favorite quotes we've been 'like farts in a whirlwind'!

We spent two wonderful nights here at Balmorhea State Park.  It is located in the middle of nowhere Texas and made a convenient jumping off point from which to tour the McDonald Observatory.  The observatory is, in turn, located in one of the most remote parts of the country.

After taking a 2 hour guided tour of the Observatory we headed down the road to Fort Davis for some 'older' history.  The Fort is one of dozens that were located along the main road across Texas back in the 1800's.  It is a fascinating piece of our countries history as well as an interesting counter-point to the Observatory.
