Holy Smokes, 0600 sure does roll around early!!! We had to be up, dressed and ready to go early this morning - not something that I do very often - thank goodness. We left the campground and made the short drive to Kartchner Caverns State Park. We had tickets - purchased months ahead of time - for the 0815 Big Room tour. This particular tour is only offered from October to April because the room is home to bats the other part of the year.
Unfortunately you are not allowed to take pictures in the cave. You will have to trust me when I tell you it is unlike any other cave tour you will ever take. The cave is 'alive' and is warm, humid and full of interesting formations. It was a great way to start the day and made the early wake up call worthwhile.
We spent the rest of the day taking in some of the other area sites. I'll let the pictures tell the story. We actually managed to get back to the campground early enough to get some chores done (like catching up on this) and to get in a short nap prior to happy hour!!
