We headed out today for what we hoped would be our first Cactus League game.  We were bundled up - Ken even had on long pants - and prepared for the rain and wind that seems to have been following us all winter.

After a great German lunch along with a stop at a local chocolate factory we decided to brave the elements and headed into Camelback Ranch.  Completed in 2009 this is the newest and largest venue in the Cactus League with seating for up to 14,000 fans.  It is the Spring Training home of the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Chicago White Sox.  It is a beautiful park with a few issues - in our humble opinions.

First up, tickets are pricey.  Our seats beind home plate for $28 each and we were actually in one of the mid-priced sections.  Secondly, the rows are not elevated enough to allow you to see over the head of the person in front of you - you either have to lean to see around or move seats, which is what we did.  For the first time ever we actually moved across the aisle to seats that had no one in front of them so that we could see. And lastly, it seems like a silly thing, but there are no cup  holders.  How do you build a brand new multi-million dollar state of the art stadium and not put in cup holders??

We watched a great game along with 4125 other 'die hard' fans.  The rain held off and the wind actually died down about half way through the game.  We even managed to get an occasional glimpse of the sun.  The best part of the day was watching the Rockies soundly beat the Dodgers 12-0.  If the play we witnessed today is any indication it's going to be a long season for the Dodger faithful.
