Despite my I'm very tied but seem unable to stop mindset which was causing me to want to cycle out along the otago peninsular, it was late so we caught a bus there and did a boat trip on which we saw:
Albatross (amazing!) on the only main land colony in the world, a sea lion, some seals, shags, a little blue penguin playing on the surface of the water (which could in a day have easily come from Oamaru) and multiple other sea birds - It was great (despite the random very white coated American who kept standing in front of us).
