Hi everyone,

Took the bus from the Cameron Highlands to Georgetown, the capital of Penang, an island off west coast Malaysia joined to the mainland by a 15km bridge. It is the second largest city in Malaysia but could not be more different than Kuala Lumpar. Really authentic, mostly Chinese population. The building around where we were staying were a mixture of colourful ramshackle two storey houses with open sewers along the roadways (ponged a bit!), but we felt really comfortable in the town. The people were open and friendly and we found great restaurants and bars, especially the one called SoHo opposite our hotel that served a fantastic shepards pie, spent many hours in that establishment! The young bar staff flocked to Paul to chat about football and how much an Irish man can drink! Took a trishaw ride around the city, the poor Indian man was only about 4 foot and weighed 7 stone, how he rode the bicycle with us in it for an hour I will never know. Fantastic buildings surround the port area and we had afternoon tea at the Eastern and Oriental Hotel, a fabulous colonial building over looking the bay.

Really enjoyed our few days soaking up the atmosphere here, flew to Langkawi on Sunday morning, will post an update soon...

Love Lisa and Paul x

hello, guys
Paul, I hope you did not disappoint the bartender but left him with his jaws dropped by your irish drinking ability!!!! :)

There is also A SoHo's bar/restaurant in Boston and it is really cool. I have never tried the shepard's pie though.

Good luck, guys

regards,
