Hi everyone,

We are now in Kota Kinabalu which is the capital of Borneo. Flew in from Bangkok on Sunday, bit delayed but nothing major. Flight took about 3 hours. Staying in an amazing place (loads of photos attached). Found it on the internet before we left Ireland and have been so lucky. They picked us up from the airport, we have a lovely chalet on the beach and brekkie each morning for the grand sum of 12 euro each!!

The last few days have been totally relaxing, lazy days on the beach and by the pool. Weather is around 35 degrees and the humidity is incredible. The main reason for our trip to Borneo is for the wildlife so we were qute surprised on the first night to see two sheep wander by our chalet. The resort here has 2 pet sheep, 3 horses, 5 dogs and 2 cats ( not typical Borneo animals!)and a lodger in our bathroom called Frank the crab.

Staff are amazing, such lovely happy people. Have made great frends with an Australian couple who are in the next door chalet so plenty of pre dinner drinks have been consumed. Will definetely keep in touch with them.

Went into the city on Monday on the local bus which is about 20km away. Took a picture of the number 16 (very different to the one that goes to Santry), all the buses over here are hiace vans that they cram everyone into, quite an experience!

Have a rental car booked for tomorrow to explore the National park which is about a two hour drive away. On Friday we take an internal flight across the island to Sandakan to go to the Sepilok rehabilitation centre for orangutans and then on to the kinabatangan river for a two night jungle adventure..

Love to all,
Lisa and Paul xxx

Hi Folks,
I feel very much at home looking at the sheep and you throw in a beached whale for good measure. Check him for oil!!
