We then decided to not to waste precious time & start our shopping escapade! Derek drove us to Cheshire Oaks, which had a variety of stores & was a popular hangout place. The shopping demon in me had been unleashed, & the only way to exorcise it was for me to get my regular dose of retail therapy
! I bought a black leather jacket, which I've been searching for in S'pore, but to no avail. I also bought Clark shoes which were dirt cheap compared to S'pore & lots of chocolates, including Cadbury's as well as boutique chocolates from famed Brit chocolatier Thornton's. All this walking & shopping was making us hungry, so we went for lunch! I had the famous Harry Ramsden fish & chips & a cup of Cadbury ice-cream, which was rather big, for dessert. With the food in our stomach, we continued our shopping with renewed vigor!
We left Cheshire Oaks at about 3pm, which was about sunset!( yup, during winter the sun sets at abt 3pm) Our next stop was Port of Sunlight. We visited the village which was built by Unilever... does the name ring a bell? For those ignorant beings, most of our soaps are manufactured by Unilever. There were so many lovely English houses, whose splendor was mesmerizing & made me admire in awe!
We returned home to rest & wash up before proceeding for dinner at 1830hrs. We had dinner in a restaurant called Mr Chow's. It was a Chinese restaurant & one of the popular as well as up market restaurant in Merseyside. Linda's niece, Jenny also joined us for dinner. Since I'd be going with Jenny for the Liverpool match tomorrow, it was a good opportunity for me to talk to her & get to know her better
. & boy was I impressed!( u know, I've got a thing for gals who likes sports.. esp football!!) She's a huge Liverpool fan & she was telling me lots of stuff about the KOP & Anfield... since she used to be a season ticket holder!! Splendid! Being a Liverpudlian, she had a distinctive Scouser twang. After our sumptuous but expensive meal( the bill came up to 100 quid.. mind u, that's S$300!! for just a few dishes) We drove straight back home after dinner & it was very cold outside, made worse by the strong winds & rain!( as usual..) When we reached home, I changed into my pyjamas & jumped into bed. Though , not before getting my daily dose of my favorite tabloid, The Sun. Did I mention that pg 3 rocks!! ooh yeah!! I'm having the time of my life!!
"Destiny is a good thing to accept when it's going your way. When it isn't,
don't call it destiny; call it injustice, treachery, or simple bad luck."
We landed in Manchester airport at about 0645hrs local time. The United Kingdom is 8hrs behind S'pore, so we actually "gained" time. The immigration officer asked me so many senseless questions that really pissed me off!! Aunty Tracy's parents, Derek & Linda met us the airport & drove us back to Merseyside, Liverpool. The journey took about 1 hr, before we reached their home in Wirral. It was raining the whole time.( so its true that its always raining & miserable in Manchester!!) It was a beautiful English house. Though it was small, it certainly made up for it by being a warm & cosy abode for us.
