We arrived in Lima after our last bus ride. This one was only 5 hours from Paracas and it was on a nice bus.

We checked into our hotel which was in the Barranco district of Lima, and wandered around our area. For our last night on our tour we all decided to go out to a nice dinner and then head to the bars to celebrate a great tour and say goodbye to our travelling companions. Our dinner was delicious, it was all local specialty dishes like ceviches (marinated fish with onions) and lomo saltado (like a beef stir fry). We also had some Pisco cocktails.

Then we went out to a few bars and had a great time with our new friends from our GAP tour.

The following morning we slept in, then packed up and left the hotel to have lunch and explore a little of Lima before our flight out at midnight. I also called my roommate from Purdue, Daniela (who is from Lima) and arranged to meet her for dinner.

We met Daniela at a very American restaurant in a fancy upscale area of Lima and caught up with her while watching para-gliders cruising over the cliffs and beach. Its a pretty cool way to see a city! After an early dinner we headed back to Daniela's parents' house to see them and see her house. She also offered to drive us to the airport, which was very nice of her! Her house is pretty amazing and we got to say Hi to her parents and sister and her boyfriend before we went to the airport.

So after three flights (Lima to Miami, Miami to Dallas, Dallas to St Louis), we arrived safely back in time for some leftover turkey from Thanksgiving and to see all of David's family before we head to Australia on December 1st.

We had the most amazing time in South America and we're already planning our next trip to see those spots we missed...
