Left Porto early morning. Drove through the mountains looking over the gulf of Girolata, then inland stopped for coffee in a small cafe/restaurant. The owner talked to us about the Balagne region and suggested the 10km drive to Montestremo, following the river.  Took his advice, had a dip under a bridge, saw a bit of snow left on the peaks and came back to his cafe for lunch.  Arrived in Calvi mid afternoon via the main road (had enough goat track for one day). Our hotel is an old Abbaye with beautiful gardens and huge rooms.  We visited the town, the citadelle and had a nice diner near the Yacht Club.  Had a look at a Spanish superyacht "the Alejandra" which just arrived. Nice charter if you can afford it...
19th June we were supposed to drive to Saint Florent and Bastia, we stopped for coffee at Ile Rousse and by then decided it was too late and headed for a beautiful beach (Ostriconi) below a cliff. Nice white sand and great snokeling.  Home for shower, shopping and diner.
