March 6, 2013.

How time flies! It's been 7 years since I started our first blog here on Travelpod. It's hard to believe it has been so long.

Last time we started with a little background, this time lets start with an update:

We are still Scott & Rachel and, amazing as it may seem to some, we are still blissfully married! Since returning from the Honeymoon World Tour of 2006 we settled down in our little yellow house on Lovers Lane and slowly worked our way back into what our friends call the "Real World". I have to say, it was a lot more difficult than I expected but we got through it. We both landed jobs we enjoy and while we weren't able to travel on the scale of the Honeymoon trip we've still kept the passports handy.

And no, unlike many of our friends we have not gone on to breed little world travelers. Let's face it, if we had, we wouldn't be having this little update now would we. What can I say, we're selfish and we are fine with that. That being said we have managed to collect a few 4 legged children. Breauxdy & Brisceaux (the dogs) and Lagniappe & Jockimo (cats) are our little rescues and are probably the one thing that will make us miss home (Well that and our Crossfit crew -shout out bitches!).

But I digress.

So, in June of this year my better half will be celebrating "The Birthday That Shall Not Be Named" and I got to thinking about what to do for her on this land mark occasion. There were a few key places that we didn't get to see on our last trip so for this Birthday I have decided to take my favorite person around the world again to hit the spots we missed last time.

Itinerary:

  • Depart NoLa April 27, 2013
  • Road trip to Rachel's Mom's in Florida
  • Belize
  • Cuba
  • Panama
  • Ecuador / Galapagos Islands
  • Brazil
  • South Africa
From here things get a bit exciting and this is where you lovely readers come in. Once in S. Africa we are going to need suggestions for places to visit between S.A. and China so get your thinking caps on.

Best Guess Itinerary:

  • China
  • Mongolia (maybe)
  • Taipei
  • Philippines or Vietnam
  • Brunei (we're coming Brady!)
  • Indonesia
  • Australia / New Zealand
  • South Pacific Islands to be determined later (Tonga, Tahiti, etc)
  • Easter Island
  • Peru
Wow, ambitious, right? I know!

But it's just a rough draft and everything is subject to change on a whim as those of you who followed the last trip know.

So here we are, the house is all packed up and rented out, the boxes stored and the backpacks are dusted off. Currently there are no pools or bets on who will quit first. That didn't go over so well last time anyway (and some folks lost the farm on that one) but we promise some surprises, some excitement and a lot of bad spelling.

Once again, we are opening up our adventure to any brave souls that would like to join us along the way. So far we have a few Special Guests making an appearance on this trip but you will have to stick around to see who they are and what kind of trouble we get into. Feel free to drop comments, complaints or suggestion down below. We might even read them, you just never know . . .

As my old friend Noel Spiccuza is fond of saying, "ENOUGH TALK!"

It's time to get moving . . .
