Beautiful day here with bright sunshine, blue skies and a few clouds.

There is one pass from east to west in this part of South Island, it's called Arthur and it links Christchurch to Greymouth.  The pass is shared by a spectacular road and a railway line.  The engineering on this road is amazing, I particularly liked the overpass for the waterfall, the picture is rubbish but you will get the idea.

Leaving the pass we travelled via a lakeside to Greymouth, a mining town on the east coast.  Sadly this is the home town of those killed in the Pike River coal mine disaster.  The town is small and has a decent variety of shops etc but very old-fashioned, UK in the 1970s would be a rough comparison.

This afternoon we sat by the beach again looking at the surf.  I came over all arty and some very classy arty photos are attached.  These are Phoney Art or PhArt for short.
