We were on the road by 10 am, just as planned. Traffic is a bit heavier than we would like, but you work with what you're handed. It’s supposed to take about 6 hours to get to Luxembourg. We’ll see how it progresses.
We passed through Belgium at 1:15 pm. We passed through Luxembourg at 2:15 pm. We stopped along the way to have some lunch at 3 pm because I was very hungry. It was a very small town. We then made our way to our host's house. It was easily found. Upon ringing the doorbell, you instantly heard the 3 dogs barking. We came inside and were greeted by them all. Two dogs were hers and one belongs to the neighbor. They were Phoebe, Spoogy, and Nina. Our host was Karyn (I think I'm spelling it right).
We got our things settled in and then left with them to take the dogs on a long walk. There is an area about 5 minutes outside of town that she takes the dogs to. It is a huge farm and there is a road that winds all the way around it. It took about an hour to walk the length of the road. The dogs love it. It was a bit chilly, especially when the wind was blowing. Conrad had to stop and feed some cows. It was fun to play with the dogs.
When we got back to the car, we went to see a waterfall. It was a small hike and we took the dogs with us. It was very nice. It was a small cascade and it was very quiet and peaceful there. She said in the summertime it is very crowded. I imagine it would be like the waterfalls in North Carolina in the summer.
We got back home and I started working on uploading pictures. I had 5 days to catch up on. We chatted with Karyn while she prepared a dinner of pasta with broccoli, olive oil and garlic. It was actually very good, and I'm not a big broccoli fan. We spent the rest of the evening chatting in the kitchen because it was the warmest room in the house. There is a wood burning stove in the kitchen and that is what is used mainly to heat the house. It got very cold here. Karyn said that it was -3 C the prior evening!
We chatted around the stove and listened to a variety of music. We heard some Luxemburgish music and I liked it. Conrad worked on the computer to map our route for tomorrow while Karyn and I chatted. Spoogy sat in her lap for a bit and then made his way to mine. He is a very sweet dog! We all went to bed at 11 pm. I stayed up for an hour more to upload pictures while making a tent with my blanket. I hid under it because it was warmer that way! I drifted off to sleep at midnight.
