Had a good night sleep and in not such a hurry to leave today. Our pace is slowing now as we have a few free days before we have to have the car back in San Francisco on Wednesday. The Chevy has done well even though it has been showing that it needs a check up and oil change for the past 4 weeks. We headed down the road to Corning via a loop road to the McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial Park. Bill and Charlene had recommended this visit and we weren't disappointed. The trip took us up over yet another mountain range and into the Park. The Parks are really nice with log cabins, just like you see on tv, and lots of people camping among the trees. This park had a big lake and with the weather reaching 102F there were heaps of people at the water either swimming, boating or fishing. The ones fishing walk into the lake with the water up to their necks and cast their lines. Looks funny when they catch something as they have to wind the line in as well as keeping their balance. The best part of the park was the Burney Falls. The water comes from underground springs above and at the falls and flows at a rate of 100 million gallons per day. It was just an amazing sight and quite beautiful. We are in Corning tonight staying at a Casino. I pulled the senior card again and have the room for $96 per night including breakfast. We were only going to stay one night but we have now decided to stay until Tuesday so we can have a relaxing day tomorrow. We need the time to try and start to pack some bags without the hassle of San Francisco. I also need to contact Air NZ to make sure our flight is ok after the accident at San Fran.
