Day Two of our jeep tour was excellent as well!  We got up early and had breakfast in a little town called San Juan.  We arrived for breakfast early so started a day with a wander around the town necropolis (??).  Right outside of the town are these amazing dead coral structures that grow into a hollow sphere shape and the locals had been putting bodies into these structures instead of tombs.  So we had this very weird walk around this huge area filled with dead coral that was filled with human remains.  You could peak into the open tops of them and see the human bones within.  Very surreal, and a very weird thing to do at 7am before you have even had your cup of coffee!  It was interesting though.

Then we spent the day driving to a succession of lagunas that were home to huge flocks of flamingos!  Each laguna was more beautiful than the last, finishing with one that was an increidbly vibrant red-salmon colour from the algae within it.  It was flanked by what looked like huge white glaciers, but which were actually just massive mineral deposits.  So gorgeous.

Then we popped by a set of rocks that had a bunch of chinchilla-like creacures bounding around on them.  The little beasts looked a bit like rabbits and a bit like guinae pigs and a bit like squirrels.  Very cute.

Finally we went to a last coral reef deposit in the middle of a dusty desert.  These amazing rock structures were really fun to climb around on and seemed so out of place in the middle of such vast nothingness.  The most famous rock there looks like a tree blowing in the wind...very beautiful.

Stopped at a small building in the middle of nowhere to drink overpriced red wine with a bunch of other very fun travelers before a VERY CHILLY sleep  (we were back up at 3500+ metres above sea-level...it was COLD).
