Don't mind us, just passing through

Flag of Mexico  , Northern Mexico,
Thursday, December 22, 2011

We'll be coming round the mountains when we come. We had no choice really. To head south we first had to head north to get around the mountains. Ai Chihuahua!

The drab entrance into and around the city of Chihuahua was rather uninviting. The sky was grey. The road was grey. And everything in between was grey. Just grey. Everywhere.

We already had doubts about staying here for even the one planned night. If the word on the (virtual) street is to be believed, there's not much for the tourist here. Add to that the onset of man-flu and the locals of El Fuerte and Creel warning us to be careful in Chihuahua, there was little reason to even leave the bus station. Apparently this is where the bad stuff happens!

But the final nail in the Chihuahua coffin was the 3-sided noticeboard in the bus station filled with A4 posters of missing people! Albeit all were Mexican and mostly in their twenties, at least one of us could mistakenly fit that profile...

So we waited 4 hours in the bus station for the next bus south to Zacatecas. The few locals that we interacted with were exceptionally friendly.

Aside - Sorry, Laura, that means no cheesy pic of a chihuahua in Chihuahua!

I love your posts but slightly concerned that your prolific postings mean you're spending all day in awful Internet by the hour webshops :) Speaking from an office slave point of view, looking forward to next random posting! Ps - next trip is southern India xx
