Where I stayed
Camped on the beach
Between the wee hours of 3am and 4am two new words were added to my Spanish vocabulary - morro" meaning nose of a car and "barro" meaning mud. Put them together and what do you get? The reason we were abruptly awoken by a stressed out guy ranting in Spanish and his (allegedly) pregnant girlfriend. Is that embarrassed or embarazada?
Thoughts of an elaborately staged ambush were fleeting. The desire to help prevailed. All 3 of us were out there helping - Noel behind the wheel, Dee translating and Mario.. taking photos (?). Oh how we remember what's it's like to be stuck in the mud!

We were camped right on the beach under the full moon that night alongside the swooshing waves. It was bliss! Our bellies were full of fish tacos from the stand over at Playa Balandra where we had a good old chat with the vendor. But it was gorgeous Playa Tecolote where we set up camp. How did we come to be here?
Our newest friend, Noel, responded to our Craig's list ad: "Desperately seeking rideshare". He's a genuinely nice guy so we got on very easily and quickly. He had travelled all the way from his hometown of Vancouver, Canada to Cabo San Lucas, at the tip of Baja California, Mexico. We hopped on in Todos Santos and started our northward-bound adventure together. It was too late to get any further than La Paz that night. The details of the route were just details, so it was great that we were like-minded in this way. The Road Lees, and Noel, Travelled!
It felt great being back in a campervan! Surprisingly so. You may recall that Mr T was our home for 3.5 months and that he faithfully took us right across New Zealand. Oh how we miss you! And now we've met your soulmate and Sue's namesake (our NZ buddy whose wedding we attended) - Suzie Q. That's what Noel calls his campervan. At first glance at her you get flashbacks of Tony Micelli's workvan from "Who's the Boss". But she's purpose-built for camping with an unbelievable amount of storage, pretty finishings and still going strong at the mature age of 30!
"On the road again. Goin' places that I've never been. Seein' things that I may never see again..."
