Depending on who you ask, San Marcos is either a sleepy town with nothing much to do or it's a peaceful spot for a retreat where you can experiment with alternative therapies. On our approach across the lake in a tiny boat we could see people performing yoga positions and others meditating on outcrops facing the water. To them and the hippies who call this village home, it's a shangri la. To us day-trippers from San Pedro, it was beautiful yet rather sleepy town. It was fun winding our way through the maze in anticipation of what lay around each corner. 

Maybe one day we'll return with a different purpose.
