Our aim was to get to New Orleans as quickly and safely as possible. So we filled up the gas tank and cruised onwards and upwards. We knew that inevitably we'd miss places along the way. The plan was only to stop for breaks and to sleep, by which point it would be dark. But, so be it.

Spanish Lesson MP3s, talk radio (with lots of anti-Obama sentiment), electric storms and "panther crossing" signs kept us entertained along the way.
