It was pitch dark when we got to SLO but the town was abuzz with students and out-of-towners alike. We had inadvertently arrived amid a series of events. This meant all possible accommodation of any sort was fully booked out. We were advised that the nearest town with accommodation was 2 hours away. Oh, how we miss the shoulder season! It's much better suited to the way the Lees prefer to travel i.e. The Road Lees Travelled.

So we decided to explore the town, have supper at the 24 hours pizza place before heading to the next (quieter) town where we'd sleep in the car. 

Good thing the compact car wasn't really compact!
