Everyone talks about Akaroa but the rest of the Banks Peninsula is a haven of less explored gems. Our favourite has to be Pigeon Bay. The locals were welcoming and are not yet jaded by tourists because they don't seem to get that many. Might have something to do with the unsealed road.

We had a good old chat with a friendly Kiwi couple and their cute doggie. They seemed amused by this devoted wife bringing a cuppa to her dear fisher-husband. :)
