Invercargill is a bigger city than we expected, sprawling with chain stores and car dealerships.

We were unduly excited to see our first Pak'nSave on the South Island! Bear in mind that we'd worked our way from top to bottom along the west coast already. We went in to browse, comforted by the familiarity, but we resisted buying anything because, really, we were already fully stocked. Alas, no Saffa section here :(

Being eternal optimists we decided to work our way even further south and up to the Bluff lookout point, this despite total overcast conditions and zero visibility

Rainy weather was forecast to continue for most of the country. That means that taking the scenic route would be kinda pointless unless you deem endless grey clouds to be scenic. So we took the scenic route.
