We awoke to a very wet world. Apparently the west coast has more rainy than non-rainy days and is in fact, largely rainforest. On driving days like these the Lees morph into drive-by tourists - shoot some pics and go! Kinda like tour bus folks.

This typical Easter weather meant we couldn't see the Franz Josef glacier for the clouds. This was our first encounter with such a phenomenon. To say we were underwhelmed would be harsh. Let's rather say we were merely whelmed.

It continued to rain cats and dogs. We couldn't beat them, so we joined them. We started WWOOF-ing.

The term originated from the "Willing Worker On Organic Farms" program but has been widely bastardised. What it meant for us was working at Glow Worm backpackers for 2.5hrs per day in exchange for accommodation and use of their facilities.

So we laundered everything including car mats and bedding, and chilled in the jacuzzi until we turned into raisins, and had at least one shower everyday! We also made some cool buddies like Natalie, a talented guitarist, from Canada.

It was strange having to "work" again after 6 weeks of bumming around. Dee became a master bed-maker, making up to 40 beds on one brain-numbing day. Mario had more task variety being in charge of cleaning communal areas. But he looked miserable throughout.

We were reminded that life is too short to spend it working. Time is too precious to keep selling it. Clearly we're gonna have a tough time fitting back into normal day jobs! Yet somehow that famous Saffa work ethic always shines through...
