I forgot my flip-flops in Auckland, a result of walking around barefoot most of the weekend. So when we stopped for P&P - petrol and pee - I rushed into the wet-floored loo without thinking. Doh! I'm sure it was just water, it had to be!

Anyway, it was here that random petrol station folks informed us that the temperatures drop very rapidly as we head south. But this is ridiculous! Just 2 days ago I was catching a tan in the Subert's garden, now I'm donning a polo neck and ski jacket?

This was our coldest night so far, just a small taste of what the South Island has in store for us. Driving off next morning we could see from whence the chill came...(see pic)
