So a few days before departure we get the news that our gas system is not fit for purpose and needs to be replaced. Just great!!! Suddenly our home looks is a construction site as worker bees have taken over our lounge, bedroom and kitchen. All those plans we had of cleaning the flat before leaving was now covered in dust, just great.

Anyways...we end up having a frantic last few days but surprise surprise we got through
our to-do list, well, we actually gave up on it and decided to destroy said list. There is no list to work through. Yes, everything is OK now.

On the day of our departure we actually finish packing fairly early in the day. We gave up trying to fit everything into 2 x 40 litre bags so threw the ski and formal clothes into a wheelie duffle. We said cheerio to the workerbees who'd been swarming over our beloved home and dropped off bag number 17 at the charity shop. We then swing by to the letting agent and after getting him to convince us that he knows what he is doing head off to our friend's home close by for a shower and lovely lunch. Btw, did I also mention that we had no hot water nor gas at home? Yes...still just great, :-).

After the shower we just chilled and I could feel my deltoids start to relax. I think it finally started to sink in that our old life was fast disappearing. After a sad goodbye to Gaby we head to the tube station, I'm thinking...when is the next time I'll be using my good ol' Oyster card? So off we go down the escalator, hop on the tube and hey, suddenly we realise we're not heading to Heathrow, so off the tube at the next station to change to the correct one, phew, lets not take that as a sign of things to come.

Flight was largely uneventful, tho we did manage to have a 3 seater all to ourselves, so we could kinda stretch out a bit. Dee fell asleep before take off and overall we both got some sleep along the way. After about 11 hours we start our descent into Hong Kong, lets hope the hotel I booked in a rush a few days ago actually exists! :-)
